Heatproof is proud to introduce an amazing new breakthrough in energy conservation, ecological preservation and an effective air-conditioning technology, known as radiative cooling. Patented by Radi-Cool in USA, China, and other Southeast Asian countries, this zero-energy consumption cooling technology was listed as one of the "Top 10 breakthrough of the year 2017" in Physics World and rated as "Top Ten Most Popular News" in The Economist. The first product line was set up in Colorado, USA, while subsequently a massive product line was set up in China.

Heatproof products are coated with a layer of radiative cooling coating which can achieve significant cooling effect with its high infrared emissivity (8μm-13μm) and high solar reflectivity. The high infrared emissivity allows heat to be transmitted away from its surface and the high solar reflectivity allows the fabric to only absorb minimal solar energy which is light and energy from the sun. Hence, without energy consumption, the cooling process is rapid and efficient. By applying Radi-Cool on a surface, the covered surface instantly turns into an air-conditioning system on its own, radiating heat and cooling the surface and object it is covering.

What is Radiative Cooling?

Everything radiates heat. The ground, for example, emits heat continuously to outer space while receiving energy from the sun. In the daytime, incoming solar energy exceeds the outgoing energy and the temperature of the ground surface rises. At night, as there is no incoming solar energy and the ground continues to radiate away heat, its temperature falls. This night-time cooling is called "radiative cooling".

Based on this principle, Radi-Cool's technology establishes an efficient radiative heat transfer channel between the earth's surface temperature environment and outer space by transmitting specific infrared rays achieving radiative cooling. Radi-Cool materials allows energy-free cooling continuously (24-hour) and efficiently even under direct sunlight. As an innovative cooling technology which is energy-free and pollution-free, it appears in various product forms such as films, coatings, cooling building materials, and fabric which can be widely used in many fields such as huge buildings, photovoltaic power stations, cold chain logistics, transportation, agricultural production, and consumer products, bringing great value for its users. During industrialization of the radiation cooling technology, Radi-Cool has obtained strong support from the Chinese government and society with a total investment of over 1 billion RMB. Radi-Cool industrial park for radiation cooling matamaterials is being constructed in Ningbo. During the day, the earth absorbs heat. Incoming heat from the sun exceeds outgoing heat and the temperature rises.

At night, the earth emits heat back to the atmosphere. Since outgoing heat is greater than incoming heat, the temperature drops. This night-time cooling is called "radiative cooling".
